Across the three runs, the final temperature ranged from 13.5°C to 14.1°C. That represents a run-to-run variation of just 0.6°C.

How We Conducted the Test

We wanted this to resemble the way someone might prepare cold water before leaving home for the day.

For each test, we used:

  • One ENEM 1.2L stainless steel tumbler with straw

  • 1,000 mL of refrigerated water

  • A starting water temperature between 4°C and 5°C

  • No ice

  • The regular lid with the straw inserted

  • A shaded indoor location without direct sunlight

  • An ambient temperature of approximately 30°C

  • The same thermometer for every reading

  • Temperature readings at 0, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 20 hours

  • Three complete test runs

The tumbler itself was kept at room temperature before each test. After adding the cold water, we recorded the starting temperature, fitted the lid and left the tumbler upright.

At every checkpoint, we opened it only long enough to take the reading and closed it again immediately. Each reading was recorded within approximately 30 seconds.

What Did We Mean by “Cold”?

“Cold” is subjective. Water that feels properly chilled to one person may only feel cool to someone else.

For consistency, we defined cold water in this test as water measuring 15°C or below. This is ENEM’s benchmark for this particular test, not a universal scientific or regulatory definition.

Based on that threshold, the ENEM tumbler kept the water cold for a full 20-hour test period under our stated test conditions.

If you prefer colder water, your personal cut-off might be 10°C or 12°C. That is why we have included the actual temperature readings instead of relying only on an “up to 20 hours” statement.

There is no honest universal answer based only on the hour count printed on a product page.

Surrounding temperature
